Party, party, party! I for one, am partied out!
April 30th was Ladybug's birthday party.
May 7th I hosted the Leader Appreciation party for all of the GS leaders in my county.
May 14th I spent the day as an artist demonstrator at the local Strawberry Festival.
May 21st we had the Spring Awards ceremony for our GS troops.
Although my father-in-law's 60th birthday party is coming up on June 4, I plan to spend Memorial Day weekend in my jammies!!
The parties all went well, thanks to weeks of prep for each one. The Strawberry Festival also went well - I sat and hand dyed silk paddle fans with strawberry motifs.
I did 15 fans in 3 1/2 hours and sold 5 of those. The rest are on display at the Gallery and should sell quickly if temperatures stay in the 90's like they have been this week.
Back in January, I decided that one of my goals for this year was to submit artwork to one - or several - of the Somerset publications. There is currently a color challenge using chartreuse that I want to do. The trouble is, I have come up with about a dozen different ideas, and I am honestly not sure what direction I want to go in. So far I have considered a dyed silk scarf, a canvas assemblage triptych, a mixed media affair using a bent window screen, a painted apothecary chest, and a collection of items in a shadow box.
Whatever I end up doing, it has to be submitted by August 15.
I need a direction.
I have also come up with an idea for the art guild. It's something that could ultimately bring in money, but it's going to require a LARGE initial investment. I guess I should bring it up to the director first, then go about writing a proposal.
Time to check on dinner....
